EIA put U.S. on-highway diesel at $5.454/gal on Aug. 17 — up 19.7¢ in a week, $1.74 vs a year ago. Market diesel crack spread hit a record ~$102/bbl. Low distillate stocks; freight and groceries lag the margin.

Brent crude: $91 on the screen, $85 in the EIA average

Brent is holding above $90. EIA’s August STEO still has a $85 third-quarter average and $69 for 2027. The gap is a Hormuz risk premium. WTI is cheaper because it is a U.S. pipeline grade, not a Strait barrel.
